Cast tooling plate
Cast aluminum tool and jig plate is a different product from wrought 6061 or 7075 plate. It is selected for tooling applications where dimensional stability and surface condition matter. Alloy, stress-relief practice, face finish and tolerances depend on the producer.
Specify any required manufacturer, flatness, thickness tolerance or surface finish explicitly. A generic cast tooling designation does not establish equivalence to a branded product.
Machining and applications
Use sharp tooling and suitable coolant. Allow for the actual surface condition and confirm the machining plan for thin features or extensive material removal; cast plate can still move during machining.
- Fixture bases, subplates and tooling jigs
- Vacuum chucks and workholding platforms
- Inspection and coordinate-measuring fixtures
Producer specifications
Use the producer’s datasheet and supplied certification to confirm properties and tolerances. The generic tool-and-jig name does not establish a wrought alloy specification or a structural strength requirement.
