6061-T6511 bar weight, without a generic alloy guess
T6511 is the familiar temper for extruded 6061 round and flat bar. It identifies solution heat treatment, stress relief by stretching, artificial aging, and permitted straightening after the stretch. Those operations affect strength and machining stability, but they do not require a separate density correction for a practical stock-weight estimate.
Flat bar weight comes from thickness x width x length, while round bar uses cylinder volume. The result is theoretical metal weight before saw kerf or machining. Use the pounds-per-foot tables for mill-length bundles and the interactive result for exact cut pieces.
Weight formulas used by this calculator
Flat bar
weight = thickness x width x length x density
Use one unit system for all three dimensions. Quantity multiplies the solid weight after the single-piece volume is calculated.
Round bar and solid rod
weight = pi x (diameter / 2)^2 x length x density
Diameter is the full outside dimension of solid bar. Tube and bored stock need the hollow internal volume subtracted.

Frequently asked questions
How much does one-inch 6061-T6511 round bar weigh per foot?
A one-inch-diameter 6061-T6511 round bar weighs about 0.92 pounds per foot.
What is the 6061-T6511 flat-bar weight formula?
Multiply thickness x width x length x 0.0975 lb/in3, then multiply by quantity.
Does the T6511 temper change 6061 bar weight?
No practical density correction is needed. T6511 identifies the heat treatment, stretching, and straightening process, not a different alloy chemistry.
Can I calculate metric bar sizes?
Yes. Choose millimeters and enter diameter or rectangular cross-section plus length; the result remains available in pounds and kilograms.
